Clonmel Celtic 3 Bansha Celtic 4 Clonmel Celtic continued their good recent form with a comfortable 4-0 win over Bansha which sees them advance to the semi final of the Tipperary Cup. Celtic were well in control form the start and two goals in a six minute spell from Paul Kennedy and Paddy O'Donnell midway through the first half put them in command. Bansha had their best spell at the start of the second half and looked as if they could fight their way back into this tie. They forced a number of corners and launched many balls into the Celtic box but they just didn't get any breaks. You felt that this was a crucial period of the game because a goal for Bansha here could have changed the game dramatically. However Celtic kept their concentration and although they did not hit the highs of previous weeks they still looked the better outfit. They got the all important third goal on 75 minutes when Wayne Murray powerfully headed home at the far post. Bansha collapsed at this stage and Celtic could have scored more with Danny Madigan and Brian Waters coming close before Paul Kennedy grabbed his second to seal a comfortable 4-0 win. Celtic will now meet Rock Rovers in the semi final next Monday (venue to be decided). The Carrick side will represent a very tough obstacle and it is worth pointing out that before this season Celtic had never beaten them. However victories in the Munster and FAI Junior Cups this year has put this bad record to bed so Celtic will be confident they can make it a hat trick of cup wins and reach their first ever final at junior level.
