Clonmel Celtic 3 Bansha Celtic 1

Not for the first time this season Clonmel Celtic bounced back from defeat to collect an important 3 points with a 3-1 win over Bansha Celtic last Sunday. The first 20 minutes of this encounter was cagey and uneventful until Danny OfBrien pounced to give Bansha the lead. On 28 minutes a good move involving Graham Doyle and Andy Cosgrave ended with the impressive Paul Shanahan setting up Eddie Doyle for a tap in to level the game. Seven minutes later Celtic hit the front when Christy Alyward got on the end of a Glen Nugent through ball only to be upended in the penalty box. Paul Kennedy scored from the spot to give Celtic a 2-1 lead that they held at the break. Celtic got the perfect start to the second half when Paul Kennedy headed home an excellent header from an Eddie Doyle corner to put the home side 3-1 up. Bansha, however, were by no means out of it and should have pulled a goal back on 53 minutes but their striker blazed over with the goal gaping. They even had a better chance on 65 minutes when stand in keeper Darren Boland conceded a penalty. However he made amends with an excellent save to maintain Celticfs two goal advantage. Bansha kept plucking away with Danny OfBrien causing problems with his endless running although Celtic had opportunities to wrap the game up with David Joyce and Paul Kennedy both coming close in the latter stages.
