Clonmel Celtic's poor start to the season continued as they went down by the odd goal in five away to Borris last Wednesday. On the positive side this was very much an improved performance and Celtic can count themselves unlucky not to get something from this game. However it has to be said, no matter what level you play at, the first thing you have to get right is your defence. Until Celtic stop making such basic errors they will continue to struggle. It was a defensive mistake that had Celtic a goal down after 7 minutes. However they levelled shortly afterwards. A Graham Doyle free kick was headed back across the goal by Pa Brennan only for a Borris defender to deflect the ball into his own net. Borris soon regained the lead through Danny Graham. Celtic equalised before the break when the impressive Stephen Ryan headed home a Graham Doyle set piece. Celtic had most of the play in the second half and you felt if any team was going to go on and win this it would be Celtic. Unfortunately another defensive error proved their undoing and Danny Graham scored to give Borris an undeserved 3-2 win. It may have been an improved performance, with Graham Doyle and Stephen Ryan particularly impressive, but we still got zero return from this game. We need to get things right soon because after Sunday's game against Town we are already 1/4 way through the season.
