Clonmel Celtic consolidated their fourth place position as they romped to their biggest win of the season with a 7-2 victory away to Borris last Sunday. Celtic didn't get off to the best of starts with John Ryan conceding his first goal in four games as Borris took an early lead. However Celtic soon got into their stride, producing some quality football and goals from Andy Cosgrave and Paul Kennedy saw them go into the break 2-1 ahead. Just after the break Paddy 'Wack' O'Donnell scored his first goal since his return to Celtic but Borris responded almost immediately. Paul Kennedy was then on the mark to restore Celtic's 2 goal cushion. The turning point of the game came when John Ryan produced a fine penalty save and moments later the Borris keeper made a dreadful error to gift Paul Kennedy his hat trick and put Celtic 5-2 up. Not content with his hat trick Paul Kennedy went on to score 2 more to take his season's tally to an amazing 31 goals. Celtic are now in fourth spot with Peake Villa, four points ahead in third, in their sights. It was another record breaking day for Celtic. For the first time they scored 7 in a game (previous best was 6 v Rosegreen in 2005) and Paul Kennedy's 5 goals was the most a Celtic player has ever scored in a game (previous best Paddy O'Donnell's 4 against Rosegreen).
