Clonmel Celtic 7 Two Mile Borris 0

Clonmel Celtic advanced to the 3rd round of the Munster Junior Cup with a comprehensive 7-0 win over first division Borris. The first half of this game was poor with the only incidents of note being the two goals that put Celtic into a 2-0 interval lead. On 10 minutes the Borris keeper fumbled an Eddie Doyle cross and David Joyce was on hand to tap home Celtic’s first. On 35 minutes Celtic went two up with a quality finish from Graham Doyle as he got on the end of a Paul Kennedy cross. Celtic got the perfect start to the second half when Kenny O’Shea finished well from a Danny Madigan free. On 55 minutes Borris missed a glorious chance to get back in the game when their striker having rounded the keeper shot into the side netting. Ten minutes later Celtic made it four when Kenny O’Shea glanced home an Eddie Doyle corner. Borris had a player dismissed on 70 minutes and they fell apart soon after with Celtic finding the net 3 times in the last 10 minutes. On 80 minutes Kenny O’Shea set up David Joyce who scored his second. With three minutes remained the Borris keeper gifted Kenny O’Shea his hat trick and with 2 minutes left another Borris defensive lapse allowed Eddie Doyle walk in Celtic’s seventh. Celtic will no doubt have a much sterner test in the next round when they face neighbours Old Bridge.
