Clonmel Celtic slumped to their second successive league defeat with a 4-2 loss at home to neighbours Old Bridge. Incredibly for the third successive home game Celtic found themselves 2-0 down after 30 minutes. After 11 minutes Emmet Ryan curled an effort into the top left hand corner and 9 minutes later Paul Ryan played a fine one-two on the edge of the box with Robbie Farrell and Ryan finished well to put the Bridge in control. Celtic eventually got on top and went on to dominate the rest of the first half. On 34 minutes Barry O'Neill played Dino McSherry down the right and his cross was superbly volleyed to the net by Adam McSherry. Celtic remained on top and got a deserved equaliser just before half time. Graham Doyle played James Power in and when Keeper Tobin saved his effort Dino McSherry was there to tap home the rebound. Unfortunately Celtic were unable to continue their dominance into the second half and they soon found themselves involved in a real scrap. On 53 minutes they fell behind when Barry Walsh fired home after Raymie Boyle had initially saved Emmet Ryan's effort. There was no response from Celtic this time and their challenge soon fizzled out as Bridge got back on top. On 69 minutes Emmet Ryan fired home from the spot to make it 4-2. Celtic tried to rally late on with Stephen Ryan twice forcing saves from Richie Tobin and James Power cracked an effort off the crossbar. Everyone at the club are naturally disappointed with recent results, none more so than the players and coach, especially after the hard pre-season work they have put in. However you do not become a bad side overnight, and there are too many fine players in this side for them to struggle. Every team has a dip in form and I'm confident they will recover from these results. This is an early test for the team and now is the time to roll up their sleeves and knuckle down to some hard work and grind out some results. Remember we are just two points behind the leaders!!
