Clonmel Celtic played out a drab goalless draw with the Old Bridge in a windswept Ferryhouse last Sunday. The Bridge were badly in need of points to avoid the drop while Celtic were hoping to find some form that might boost their Tipperary Cup Challenge. However both sides found the elements hard to battle against as a galeforce wind throughout ruined what could have potentially been a terrific contest. The first half was very poor with the Bridge shading it. John Ryan, in the Celtic goal, had to be sharp as he tipped long range efforts from John Shanahan and Paul Ryan over the bar. At the other end, just before the break, a well struck Wayne Murray free kick saw the Bridge keeper produce a fine save. In the second half the quality improved a little as Celtic got on top. In truth they created enough chances to win the game. Paul Kennedy hit a post, Brian Waters glanced a header wide when well positioned while Eddie Doyle and Kenny O'Shea blasted over from good positions. The Bridge nearly stole it late on when Emmet Ryan ghosted in behind the Celtic defence but couldn't get his header on target. This miss could yet prove very costly for the Bridge who must now hope that an improving Bansha Celtic side fail to pick up two points in their final 2 games.
