Clonmel Celtic 4 Cahir Park 1

Three goals in the last 12 minutes saw Clonmel Celtic eventually overcome Cahir Park to run out comfortable 4-1 winners in Clonmel last Sunday. Celtic got the perfect start when Ian McCollum headed home from a corner but this lead was shortlived as Martin Burke replied for the visitors on 12 minutes. Celtic were the better side in the first half with Adam McSherry going close with a couple of free kicks. Celtic upped the tempo in the second half and gradually wore down Cahir’s resistance as they were finding gaps with increasing frequency. Despite their dominance Celtic couldn’t find the breakthrough with David Joyce, Andy Cosgrave and Alan Ward all missing decent chances. Just when it looked as Celtic might pay for their profligacy they eventually found the net on 78 minutes. Following good work by David Joyce, Wayne Garltand crossed and Adam MSherry was at the far post to finish well. Cahir were almost level 2 minutes later but for a very timely tackle from Kevin Mcgrath. Celtic ran riot in the last 10 minutes and looked like scoring everytime they attacked. They settled for two with Kenny O’Shea heading home a corner on 85 minutes and 2 minutes later Paddy ‘Wack’ O’Donnell finished the scoring with an excellent lob after a brilliant through ball from Andy Cosgrave.
