Galbally United 2 Clonmel Celtic 0

Clonmel Celtic are out of the Munster Junior Cup after going down 2-0 to Premier strugglers Galbally Utd in Limerick last Sunday. Celtic had been in decent form in recent weeks and went into this game confident they could advance to the next round. However despite taking control in the second half they were left to rue the many chances they created but failed to take. The first half was even enough although Celtic did not look as sharp as the team that finished in Borris last Sunday. They gave away a needless penalty on 27 minutes which gave Galbally a 1-0 lead. Celtic should have been at least level at the break but they missed two glorious first half chances. Celtic went chasing the game in the second period and were well on top but once again their finishing was proving costly with Andy Cosgrave and David Joyce both coming desperately close. When second half substitute John Mullins did eventually beat the keeper he saw his effort come off the inside of the post as Galbally clung onto a slender lead. Celtic again nearly equalised as the game reached the latter stages but a frantic goalmouth scramble saw the ball been cleared off the line. With time nearly up on the clock Globally broke and got the insurance goal that sees Celtic make an early exit from the Munster Junior Cup. .
