Clonmel Celtic 4 Galbally United 1

Clonmel Celtic continued their climb up the table with a 4-1 win over basement team Galbally last Sunday. Despite the scoreline this was a scrappy encounter and Celtic will have to improve significantly on this performance with big games against Clonmel Town and Grattan Utd coming up. The game was switched to Clonmel and Celtic can be grateful for this as they struggled and underperformed especially in the first half. If the game was played in Galbally it was a game where points could have been lost. In a poor first half neither side really threatened as Galbally battled hard for points that were crucial to avoid the drop. Celtic upped the temp on the restart and found themselves 2-0 after 55 minutes with goals from Ian Kavanagh and Brian Waters. Celtic sealed the points on 65 minutes when Adam McSherry played Ian Kavanagh through and he finished well for his second. Galbally rallied briefly and had a chance to pull one back when awarded a penalty but this opportunity wasn’t taken though on 72 minutes Stephen McDonnell scored a fine free kick to make it 3-1. However with 8 minutes remaining Adam McSherry maintained his goal a game since joining Celtic with a superb free kick to make the final score 4-1.
