Killusty V Clonmel Celtic

Killusty 0 Clonmel Celtic 0

Clonmel Celtic's struggle continues as they had to settle for a point in this bottom of the table clash with Killusty last Sunday. Celtic can count themselves unlucky as they deserved more from this game. They were the better team for long periods of this game and created the better chances. This was also a huge game for Killusty as they too were still awaiting their first win and there was not much between the teams in the first half hour. Celtic got on top in the 15 minute period before half time and should have gone in ahead at the break. On 33 minutes Eddie Doyle broke down the right and his cross caused panic in the Killusty defence. The ball broke to lively debutant Paul Kennedy but his shot was brilliantly saved by the Killusty keeper. Stephen Ryan also came close with a couple of long range efforts and on 43 minutes Ross Doyle turned smartly in the box but his shot was just over. The second half was a more even affair although Wayne Murray should have given Celtic the lead when he headed over from close range. Killusty, realising so much was at stake, came more into the game but a much improved Celtic defence held firm. On 74 minutes Celtic almost got the break though when Paul Kennedy got in behind the defence but his hurried shot went over. With 10 minutes remaining both sides threw everything in to trying to find a winner. On 80 minutes Ross Doyle failed to connect at the far post from a Robbie Farrell header and on 85 minutes Eoin Parker made a great blocking tackle when Jimmy O'Meara's effort looked on target. Celtic will have to build on this performance and with a little bit of luck in front of goal they can hopefully get their first win against Peake Villa next Sunday.

Starman for Celtic: Graham Doyle
