New manager Tommy Kiely got an idea of the difficult task facing him as he saw his side go down 5-3 to St Nicholas last Sunday. For a while it looked like it was going to be a perfect start for the new manger as goals from Paul Kennedy, Stephen Ryan and David Peters saw Celtic race into a 3-0 lead. David Peters coolly volleyed home a Graham Doyle corner to put Celtic 1 up. 5 minutes later Stephan Ryan rose brilliantly to head home an Eggy Doyle free kick. Eggy Doyle turned provider again as he crossed low for Paul Kennedy to continue his good run of scoring. However St Nicholas pulled a goal back before the break to leave the score 3-1 to the visitors at the break. The goal before the break seemed to give great heart to St Nicholas as they were a transformed side in the second half and scored four more times to win 5-3. It was not all one way traffic in the second half and Celtic were left to rue the many missed chances which could have seen them take all three points. Mark Maguire and Paddy O' Donnell on his comeback were the main culprits, while Wayne Murray had a brave header cleared onto the post. Yet again it proved to be silly goals that were the downfall of this inconsistant Celtic team.
