Rock Rovers 4 Clonmel Celtic 1

Celtic slumped to their second defeat of the season when they went down 4-1 away to Rock Rovers last Thursday night. After Rovers took an early lead Paddy Wack O'Donnell hit an equaliser from a free kick on 10 minutes. Unfortunately that was as good as it got for Celtic as Rovers went on to boss the game. On 35 minutes a defensive error left Rovers in for a second. Celtic rallied a little at the start of the second half and after a fine run Paddy O'Donnell came close to an equaliser with a shot across goal. However Rovers rapped up the points on 65 minutes when a deflected shot looped over the helpless stand in keeper David Peters. With five minutes remaining a Rovers player outjumped a static Celtic defence to nod home a fourth.
