Clonmel Celtic slipped further into relegation trouble as this defeat to Rock Rovers now sees them occupying bottom spot in the Premier League. In the first half Celtic failed to take many of the chances they created and as is often the case they were punished. Five minutes into the second half Rovers took the lead through JJ Butler. As would be expected Celtic upped their game and threw everything at Rovers but they were dealt what could be a terminal blow to their hopes of playing in this division next year when a fine finish by Alan Ryan sealed a hugely important win for the Carrick side. Celtic cannot be faulted for effort and James Power headed home a Eddie Doyle corner with 5 minutes remaining but try as they might they could not force an equaliser. Paddy O'Donnell had a header cleared off the line in the dying moments and Tommy Kiely was unlucky when his long range effort went narrowly over. The table at the moment (see website) does not make for happy viewing but on closer inspection you will see we still have a chance. While that chance remains we live in hope.
