Clonmel Town 2 Clonmel Celtic 1

Clonmel Celtic had a disappointing festive period as they went down to 2 successive league defeats. Just before Christmas Celtic lost 2-1 away to Clonmel Town. The first half of this game was poor with neither side appearing particularly interested. Some sloppy defending gave Town the lead on 15 minutes. The only other real incident of note in a very average first half was a superb free kick from Adam McSherry that crashed against the Town crossbar just before the break. The second half was a much better affair with Celtic upping their performance considerably. However just as they were getting on top they conceded another poor goal on 55 minutes. However in fairness to Celtic when other sides may have wilted Celtic continued to push forward and battle for every ball. On 65 minutes they were back in the game when the Town keeper spilled an Adam McSherry free kick and Wayne Kiely fired home the rebound. Celtic had the better of the game for the remaining 25 minutes but despite their efforts they could not conjure up an equaliser although Adam McSherry went very close late on.
