I've come across a 6 goal thriller before but never a 6 goal apiece thriller! That's what Clonmel Celtic and Peake Villa U14s served up last night in an enthralling encounter that finished 6-6. Celtic lead, sometimes apparently comfortably, on three separate occasions but just could not put Villa away who scored twice in injury time to earn a point. Celtic had got off to the perfect start and a brace from D J Hanton had them 2-0 up inside three minutes. When Noa Durcanski added a third from the spot on 10 minutes it looked as if it was going to be a long night for the visitors as Celtic continued to press and threatened more goals. However a neat piece of play by A Tymecki on 31 minutes saw him squeeze the ball into the far corner to give Villa life and they were back in the game just before the break when Sam Alabodi netted it to leave it 3-2 to Celtic at the break. Celtic went 4-2 up early in the second half when an unfortunate Villa defender sliced the ball into this own net. However 10 minutes later they were back in touch courtesy of a fine strike from K Vaschenko. Celtic brought on the lively Faizan Sultan and he impressed on the right wing and restored Celtic's two goal lead with a good finish on 57 minutes. Villa just wouldn't lie down and were back in touch again on the hour mark when T Kennedy nipped into to score to make 5-4. Celtic looked to have made the game safe when Rian Kiely fired home an excellent free kick with just 6 minutes remaining. As we neared the final whistle the points looked safe but credit Villa as A Thymecki made in 6-5 one minute into injury time and just one minute later D Moloney fired home a cracker to the top corner to spark jubilation among the Villa players. The referee blew the final whistle and we all eventually caught our breaths! Credit to both sides for serving up a cracker. Earlier in the week there were defeats for Celtic U13s (also pictured) (0-4 Bansha), U15s lost 5-0 in Cashel on Monday evening and last Saturday U13B lost 2-0 away to Cahir B.
