Clonmel Celtic U9s travelled to Cork last Sunday to take part in an U9 invitational tournament organised by Munster Senior League side Ringmahon Rangers. It was a great experience for the boys and they got off to the ideal start in Group A with a 4-1 win against Carrigaline. Keegan Greene scored twice and there were also goals for Gavin Peters and Cillian Johnson. Celtic faced another Cork team, Leeside in their second game but lost this tie 4-0. Leeside were good but even they would agree that the scoreline was a bit harsh on Celitc. It all came down to the last game against another Cork side Ringmahon Rangers. Despite a good performance that saw them hit both the crossbar and post they were edged out 1-0. Celtic then faced another Clonmel side SGA in the knockout stage and we narrowly beaten 1-0. Once again Celtic played well in this game hitting the crossbar twice and the post but a late break away goal won the game for SGA. Overall the boys played well and gave a good account of themselves in the tournament. We'd like to thank Ringmahon for the invite and congratulate them on a very well run tournament.
In competitive Schoolboy action Clonmel Celtic U12s lost 2-1 to Cashel last Saturday with Luke O'Shea on target for Celtic. On Tuesday night Celtic U12B lost 4-1 to Clonmel Town C with Josh Meehan scoring for Celtic.
